So the Short Ocean Points Score (SOPS) race 3 was a big day for us. It was the first race with the new (to us) second hand spinnakers from the boys at Onesails. We were taking them for a run to see if they fit and we could use them on the new prodder.

Sorry I have been a little slack with the updates on this series, I have had a tendancy to wait until there is lots to tell and then do a bunch of updates. Then I found out most of the crew just want more regular opportunities to read about themselves being awesome, and our family and friends just want to quickly find out how we are going without wading through lots of stuff.

All of this thinking about concentrating on steering and how to go faster has led me to decide on a few changes for the next race.

Firstly we will introduce a "Pit person" Dani will have a go at that as Dani has a unique ability to get around the cockpit without people noticing. It will mean she will be staying off the rail and looking under the sail at boats coming in and generally checking to ensure everything is ready / to go for when people come off the rail, furthermore she will handle the topping lift and boom vang.

Go faster, point higher, heel less, look better. Those were pretty much in order the reasons I wanted new sails. The crew had been doing a pretty good job of getting to know the boat but it was clear to me that the sails were slowing us down. The shapes were busted, the sails were delaminated ....badly in some cases (The main and Light #1 in particular).

We had some friends down from sunny Queensland a couple of weeks ago and decided since there was no racing on the long weekend that we would dust off the good sunglasses and fill up the esky for a trip over to Patonga Beach Hotel.

Yep as the title suggests High Anxiety has had a nose job! (Or should that read Bow Job?) Either way our great friends at Northshore Marine Group have finished work on the prodder and it is now attached to the boat. This is another project ticked off our wishlist and we will now set about acquiring some new (or used) asymmetrical spinnakers to wrap around the fore stay.
