2014/15 SOPS Update Race 1, 2 & 3

SOPS Update Race 1 , 2 & 3
The start of the season has been exciting and we have had some great racing and drama on the high seas. So stick with me and I will get you up to speed......
One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest - Bird Island Race

Bird Island was the first of the Blue Water races and it took us the better part of 15 hours due to a distinct lack of wind. It probably took us about 6 hours longer than we figured and we were wet, tired, hungry and out of beer by the time we crossed the line just after 1am Sunday morning. Wet and Wild opening times 2014

A balmy 14 degrees and 24mm of rain greeted the brave souls that turned up for the Opening day regatta at the RPAYC.
We had not done an opening day before so it was a chance for us to get in the club spirit, watch Bronwyn Bishop fire off the cannon, raise the flag and sing the national anthem. I didn't see the second verse coming but in retrospect I should have expected it! (In particular since it was printed on the back of the flyer.)
Hazy Shade of Winter

Well the 2014 Winter Series has now come and gone and it was as always a lot of fun. We decided to take the opportunity to shake things up a bit on the boat again with new positions for everybody, including yours truly.
L-Fresh the Lion (Island)

The Lion Island series has come around again and with 62 odd boats on the start line it was easy to see why it has got to be one of my (and many others) favorite race series of the year....
So how did we do? Well things were looking pretty good for us until an ordinary final race knocked us off the podium, but more on that later.
Casual Poetry

The crew of High Anxiety is quite a diverse bunch! Chances are you didn't know we have quite the budding author, who doubles as a trimmer and pit(wo)man.... Here is a fabulous poem by Susii Whitmore about the casual race prior to the Winter series kicking off.
2013/14 High Anxiety Awards

Pittwater to Newcastle Blue Water
Well what a weekend we had - great sailing, good fun, dolphins, burgers, nightclubbing. On the way home storms, with pouring rain and 35 knt winds and with decent size waves on the nose all the way. We have put the best bits into a video for you to enjoy.... (dont forget to turn up the music and go full screen!)
